titleOfInvention Programming non-volatile memory using high resolution variable initial programming pulses
abstract Multiple programming processes are performed on a plurality of non-volatile storage elements. Each of the programming processes serves to program at least a subset of the non-volatile storage elements into a respective set of target states using program pulses. At least a subset of the programming process identifies program pulses associated with achieving a particular result for each programming process, and one or more detections of one or more alternative results for the non-volatile storage element Performing the process. If one or more detection processes determine that more than a predetermined number of non-volatile storage elements have achieved the first alternative result, a subsequent programming process is based on the first alternative result and the identification of the program pulse. Adjusted. If the one or more detection processes determine that less than the required number of non-volatile storage elements have achieved any of the alternative results, subsequent programming processes are adjusted based on the identification of the program pulse.
