A method for diagnosing a predisposition to develop scoliosis (e.g., adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS)) and a compound for treating scoliosis based on modulation of the activity of a Gi protein-coupled receptor. Describe how to identify. The method includes measuring a change in the impedance signal of a cell expressing a receptor linked to a Gi protein by a ligand. To identify a therapeutically useful compound, the cell is contacted with a test compound and a ligand. If the impedance is greater in the presence of the test compound as compared to the absence of the test compound, the test compound is useful in treating scoliosis. |
