Methods are provided to identify and select chemical entities that result from functional effects in the development of new combinatorial drugs. A combination of two or more compounds is synergistic. The compound can be, for example, an antibody, antibiotic, antitumor agent, anti-AIDS agent, anti-growth factor, antiviral agent, soluble receptor, cytokine, RNAi, vaccine and mixtures thereof. The method includes: a) preparing n samples each containing a chemical entity, b) mixing two or more of the n samples in all possible combinations, and c) combining this mixture with functionality. Subject to assay and identifying the presence due to the functional effect. Steps a-c are repeated for the chemical presence from step c due to functional effects. |
