titleOfInvention | Central venous pressure sensor and method for controlling water or volume overload therapy |
abstract | An implantable system that monitors a patient's hydration status and coordinates hydration from the patient includes a pressure sensor and processor that can be implanted in the patient's inferior vena cava. The pressure sensor detects and generates an output indicating the patient's reference vena cava pressure value, and continuously detects and generates an output indicating the patient's lower vena cava pressure value. The processor compares the difference between the reference inferior vena cava pressure value and the subsequent inferior vena cava pressure value. The processor may reside in another implantable device or in an external device / system. |
