titleOfInvention Radiopaque reinforcement
abstract The reinforcing member (10) for the fenestration of the stent graft (30) comprises a composite wire (12) formed from at least two types of wire strands (14, 16, 18). The first type wire element includes an alloy having shape memory characteristics, and the second type wire element includes a metal having radiopaque characteristics. The first type wire strand and the second type wire strand are twisted or knitted together to form a composite wire, and are formed into a circular ring formed of at least two turns of the composite wire. The stiffening member may be a circular ring attached into or around the stent graft wall (32) or along the edge of the scalloped window (44). It can also be a substantially U-shaped border.
