abstract | (Providing a downlink channel for data transmission and providing at least one associated control channel for transmission of control information including information related to availability of a part of transmission data on the downlink channel by a current UE) A scheme that is substantially similar to the scheme used in HSDPA (provided) is adapted for long time high data rate transmissions, particularly for MBMS transmissions. In some cases, the length of the data portion transmitted in the downlink channel is changed to a high value (compared to the length of 1 TTI). The user equipment that enjoys the service is informed of the length of the data portion that is currently available in an appropriately defined field that is transmitted as control information on the associated control channel. Advantageously, the impact on the terminal battery is significantly reduced since the UE does not monitor the associated control channel during “long-term” decoding of the data portion.
