titleOfInvention | Liquid crystal display |
abstract | An object of the present invention is to drive a liquid crystal with an alternating current at a higher speed than before, further increase tolerance of variations in liquid crystal and improve productivity. Pixel selection transistors Q1 and Q2 are alternately turned on. The pixel transistor Q1 holds the positive video signal from the data line 6-1a in the holding capacitor C1 when turned on. The pixel transistor Q2 holds the negative video signal from the data line 6-1b when it is turned on, and holds the capacitor C2. To hold. Once every frame, the positive and negative video signals are written to the holding capacitors C1 and C2, and the changeover switches S1 and S2 are alternately switched over many times in one frame period until the video signal of the next frame is written. The liquid crystal can be AC driven by switching. In addition, the voltage of the counter electrode of the liquid crystal can be changed in accordance with the polarity inversion, and the signal voltage can be less than half that of the prior art.
