abstract To provide a thermal transfer sheet capable of preventing sticking, printing wrinkles, and printing scratches during printing in printing of all gradation regions from a low gradation region to a high gradation region. In a thermal transfer sheet in which a dye layer is provided on one side of a substrate and a heat-resistant slipping layer is provided on the other side of the substrate, the heat-resistant slipping layer comprises an α-olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer. A polymer-maleic anhydride monoester copolymer, and one or more selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated alcohol, zinc stearyl phosphate, and zinc stearate, and an α-olefin -Maleic anhydride copolymer-Maleic anhydride monoester copolymer content is 3% by mass or more and 35% by mass or less of the total solid content of the heat resistant slipping layer.
