abstract | [PROBLEMS] The use of mercury in the performance evaluation of mercury oxidation catalysts requires attention to handling of mercury, and requires a mercury analyzer and post-treatment of used mercury, which increases costs. Disclosed is a method for evaluating the performance of a mercury oxidation catalyst, which eliminates the reaction state on the catalyst and reflects it more. SOLUTION: For a mercury oxidation catalyst in which the adsorption amount of the mercury chlorinating agent is approximately the same, the activation energy of the mercury chlorinating agent desorption when the mercury chlorinating agent adsorbed on the mercury oxidation catalyst is desorbed is measured. The mercury oxidation catalyst based on the correlation obtained in advance with respect to the activation rate of the desorption and the reaction rate constant for obtaining mercury chloride by reacting mercury with a mercury chlorinating agent in the presence of the mercury oxidation catalyst.
