A method for producing a vinylidene fluoride polymer according to the present invention comprises dispersing a monomer containing vinylidene fluoride as a main component in an aqueous medium containing a suspending agent, and performing suspension polymerization. The suspension polymerization is carried out in the presence of a sorbitan fatty acid ester having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of 1 to 8 in a method for producing a vinylidene chloride polymer.
