abstract | An improved solid electrolytic capacitor assembly is provided. A capacitor is provided that includes a solid electrolytic capacitor element that includes an anode, a dielectric, and a cathode that includes a solid electrolyte. An anode lead extends from the anode and is electrically connected to the anode terminal. Similarly, the cathode terminal is electrically connected to the cathode. The cathode terminal includes a planar portion that is oriented substantially parallel to the lower surface of the capacitor element. This planar portion forms an internal slot in which is placed a conductive adhesive that connects the cathode terminal to the capacitor element. The inventor has found that by placing the adhesive inside the slot in the flat portion of the cathode terminal, the tendency of the adhesive to flow toward the edge of the terminal can be limited. Among other things, this improves the mechanical stability of the capacitor when encapsulated and also increases the electrical performance. [Selection] Figure 1 |
