titleOfInvention | Modified glyoxylate shunt for improved production of aspartic acid-derived amino acids and chemicals |
abstract | There remains a need in the art for microbial strains that are culturable and that produce increased amounts of amino acids such as L-threonine, L-methionine, L-lysine, L-homoserine, and L-isoleucine. . [Solution] The present invention provides microbial strains that retain improved properties for producing amino acids and chemicals derived from aspartic acid. A method of producing such a strain is provided. These methods include altering the expression of the aceBAK operon, the glcB gene, or both. Altered expression may be achieved by increased transcription, loss of natural transcriptional control, and / or other means. It is also contemplated to replace the natural promoters of these genes; for example, the natural promoter may be replaced by a tac promoter (Ptac). [Selection] Figure 3 |
