An optical article having a hard coat layer excellent in both scratch resistance and crack resistance. An optical article has a hard coat layer formed from a coating liquid containing inorganic oxide fine particles (bead-shaped fine particles) in a form in which primary particles are connected and a binder component. The optical article of the present invention is excellent in both scratch resistance and crack resistance because a hard coat layer in which beaded fine particles are dispersed is formed on the surface of the optical article.
