Medical lead system using electromagnetic band elimination filter |
abstract |
A medical lead system using an electromagnetic band elimination filter that can be used in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) environment for a patient having a medical device implanted therein. The medical lead system has an implantable lead (30) associated with a bandstop filter (38) that attenuates the flow of current through the lead over a given frequency range. The band elimination filter has an overall circuit Q whose resulting 3 dB band is at least 10 kHz. The values of the capacitance and inductance of the band stop filter are selected so that the band stop filter resonates at the selected center frequency. Preferably, the band elimination filter has an overall circuit Q whose resulting 10 dB band is at least 10 kHz. Such band elimination filters are passive but compatible with known implantable deployment and extraction systems. [Selection] Figure 2A |
