abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a specimen preparation apparatus capable of reducing the amount of fixative used while using a fixative for fixing a specimen for washing a flow path. Methanol in a first methanol chamber 111 is dispensed into a cassette via a dispensing pipette Ma. The methanol in this cassette is recovered in the first methanol chamber 111 via the recovery pipette D1b. The methanol in the second methanol chamber 112 is not only dispensed into the cassette via the dispensing pipette Ma, but also used for washing in the flow path. After the methanol in the second methanol chamber 112 is used, it is recovered in the first methanol chamber 111 without being returned to the second methanol chamber 112. As a result, the amount of methanol used can be reduced, and when the flow path is cleaned, the flow path can be cleaned using methanol that is not contaminated in the second methanol chamber 112.
