abstract | To provide an ink set for ink jet recording capable of achieving both higher printing density and ejectability in an ink set provided with clear ink, and an ink jet printing method using the ink set. (1) An ink set comprising a colored ink and a clear ink containing at least one compound selected from a polyvalent metal salt and a cationic organic compound, wherein the colored ink comprises a paste pigment. An ink set for ink-jet recording comprising pigment-containing polymer particles obtained by dispersing with an anionic polymer, wherein the pigment-containing polymer particles satisfy the following formulas (1) to (3); and (2) of (1) An inkjet printing method using an ink set, in which a clear ink is printed and then a colored ink is overlaid and printed. 70 nm ≦ D50 ≦ 130 nm (1) 0.35 ≦ (D90−D10) /D50≦0.8 (2) 0.5% by volume ≦ [content ratio of particles of D50 × 1.4 or more] ≦ 10% by volume (3) (In the formula, D10, D50, and D90 indicate particle diameters corresponding to 10%, 50%, and 90% of the cumulative volume frequency calculated from the smaller particle diameter of the pigment-containing polymer particles, respectively.)
