abstract [PROBLEMS] To easily and efficiently produce L-homoserine useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals and pharmaceuticals from an extremely inexpensive starting material. SOLUTION: After acylating DL-homoserine lactone as a starting material, lactone ring opening reaction with N-acyl homoserine lactonase is performed, and DL-N-acyl homoserine produced by the lactone ring cleavage reaction is performed. L-homoserine is obtained by performing a stereoselective deacylation reaction with N-acylhomoserine-L-acylase. [Selection figure] None
