An object of the present invention is to provide a phosphor exhibiting a higher emission intensity and luminance than Li 2 SrSiO 4 : Eu and having a broad excitation spectrum suitable for a white LED. The present invention is a crystalline substance represented by the formula: M 1 2a (M 2 b L c ) M 3 d O y N x . M 1 is at least one selected from alkali metals, M 2 is at least one selected from Ca, Sr and Ba, M 3 is at least one selected from Si and Ge, L is a rare earth element, Bi and Mn A is 0.9 or more and 1.5 or less, b is 0.8 or more and 1.2 or less, c is 0.005 or more and 0.2 or less, d is 0 0.8 or more and 1.2 or less, x is 0.001 or more and 1.0 or less, and y is 3.0 or more and 4.0 or less.
