abstract The present invention provides compositions and methods utilizing a set of coaptamer constructs useful for the identification and quantification of any polypeptide or large molecule complex. An aptamer construct that binds to a unique epitope of a polypeptide of a large molecule construct. These aptamer constructs include an epitope binding site, a coaptamer binding site, and a detectable label. In the presence of a cognate polypeptide, analyte-polypeptide complex, or other large molecule complex, coaptamers bind to each other to produce a detectable signal. The coaptamer construct may be linked with a linker to produce a bivalent aptamer construct. [Selection figure] None
