Solid solution punch comprising drug particles and / or particles adsorbed with drugs |
abstract |
Therapeutic, prophylactic and / or cosmetic compounds with drug particles and / or drug solid solution perforators containing drug adsorbed or drug-bearing particles together with an associated drug reservoir (SSPP system) For delivery, diagnosis, and nutrient delivery and drug targeting. In drug delivery, an SSPP system 600 includes an active drug component in particulate form or a drug adsorbed on the particle surface in a matrix material that dissolves upon contact with the patient's body. For transdermal drug delivery, the SSPP system containing the drug-adsorbing microparticles penetrates the epidermis or dermis and the drug is released from the (dissolving) SSPP-based perforator and desorbed from the particles. Additional drug is delivered from patch reservoir 601 as needed through skin perforations created by insertion of perforator 602. Formulation and manufacturing procedures for the SSPP and related reservoirs are also provided. [Selection] Figure 6 |
