PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct alcohol fuel cell capable of sufficiently suppressing a decrease in cell voltage due to crossover and capable of stably obtaining a sufficient output voltage over a long period of time. An anode 20 having an anode catalyst layer 2, a cathode 30 having a cathode catalyst layer 3, and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 1 disposed between the anode 20 and the cathode 30 are provided. A direct alcohol fuel cell that generates power by supplying alcohol and water to the anode 20, wherein the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 1 is an anion exchange membrane, and the cathode catalyst layer 3 contains silver as a catalyst.
