A method for producing an aromatic polyamide short fiber for a nonwoven fabric by cutting an aromatic polyamide fiber filament into a short fiber, wherein the single yarn fineness of the aromatic polyamide fiber filament is 1 to 10 dtex, and at least a part thereof Filament oil is adhered to the surface of the aromatic polyamide fiber filaments. After concentrating the aromatic polyamide fiber filaments into a tow, the filament oil is deoiled, staple oil is applied, and subsequently crimped.
