abstract | A liquid crystal panel having excellent viewing angle characteristics and contrast and a liquid crystal display device using the same are provided. A liquid crystal comprising a liquid crystal cell, a first polarizing plate bonded to the back side of the liquid crystal cell, and a second polarizing plate bonded to the viewing side of the liquid crystal cell. Panel 2. The liquid crystal cell 10 is a retardation layer in-cell type liquid crystal cell including a pair of opposed light-transmitting substrates 11, a liquid crystal layer 13, an electrode 12, and a first retardation layer 16. In the first polarizing plate 20, a first outer resin film 25, a first polarizing film 21, and a first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 27 are laminated in this order, and the second polarizing plate 30 is a second polarizing plate 30. The outer resin film 35, the second polarizing film 31, and the second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 37 are laminated in this order. At least one of the first polarizing plate 20 and the second polarizing plate 30 further includes a second retardation layer 23 disposed between the polarizing film and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.
