PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: There is a need for means and methods that make it possible to protect skin, in particular human skin, from pathogenic microorganisms. In a first aspect, a microorganism is described that can stimulate the growth of microorganisms in the resident skin flora but does not stimulate the growth of microorganisms in a transient pathogenic flora. In a second aspect, a microorganism is described that can inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the transient pathogenic skin flora, but does not inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the resident skin flora. Also described are compositions comprising the microorganism as well as the use of the microorganism in cosmetic, prophylactic or therapeutic applications. [Selection figure] None |
