abstract Provided is a metal vapor discharge lamp in which there is little deviation between an outer tube and a base and the outer tube is not easily damaged. An outer tube 400 having an opening 402 at one end and a closing portion 401 at the other end, a base 500 attached to the opening 402 of the outer tube 400, and a sealing portion 202 formed at one end. Is fixed to the base 500, and the inner tube 200 disposed in the outer tube 400 such that the distal end portion 203 as the other end is positioned on the outer tube closing portion 401 side, and the inner tube 200 A gap is provided between the discharge tube 100 housed in the inner tube 200 and at least a part of the discharge tube 100 inside the outer tube 400 and outside the tip 203 of the inner tube 200, and the outer surface of the inner tube 200. The metal vapor discharge lamp 10 is provided with a protective member 300 installed on the inner surface of the outer tube 400 in a state. [Selection] Figure 3
