A surgical stapler having a novel configuration is provided. A surgical instrument associated with a staple floor, comprising a surgical floor formed at a distal end of the surgical stapler and a staple cartridge 104 selectively housed at the distal end of the surgical stapler. 100. The staple cartridge has one or more laterally spaced rows of staple slots 124 formed on an upper surface thereof, a plurality of surgical staples S disposed within the staple slot, and a body of surgical staples. A staple line reinforcement system is formed and adapted to reinforce staple lines generated by firing into tissue. The surgical stapler T simultaneously drives a plurality of surgical staples through adjacent layers of body tissue, mechanically secures the body tissue and simultaneously activates the reinforcement system to non-machine the adjacent layers of body tissue relative to each other.
