| abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a production method with a low environmental load in the production of a base material for artificial leather having a flexible texture and excellent mechanical properties. SOLUTION: A step (1) for producing a web comprising a sea-island type composite fiber in which an island component is a water-soluble polymer and a sea component is a polyolefin resin, and a plurality of webs are stacked and entangled. A step (2) for producing a three-dimensional entangled body, and a step (3) for forming a nonwoven fabric made of polyolefin hollow fibers by extracting and removing water-soluble polymer from the sea-island composite fiber forming the three-dimensional entangled body with water. And in the step (1), the sea-island type composite fiber is formed under the condition that the average thickness of the thinnest part of the plurality of partition walls formed by the sea component is 7 μm or less, and the step (3) In the manufacturing method of the nonwoven fabric in which water contains surfactant with HLB5 or more.
