An adhesive gel derived from cross-linked hyaluronan or hylan, its preparation and use. Disclosed is a highly elastic and tacky gel formed by crosslinking hyaluronan or hylan, a salt or derivative thereof using divinyl sulfone (DVS) as a crosslinking agent. Also disclosed is a viscoelastic fluid in which an alkyl sulfone group is covalently bonded to the polymer backbone formed by monofunctionalization of the cross-linking monomer DVS with hyaluronan and / or hylan. Mechanical properties such as hardness and tack values are specified by the rheological properties of the gel. A method of preparing such a product is also disclosed.
