A method for extracting (and subsequently isolating) a microbial (or unicellular) oil, preferably an oil containing one or more polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), from a unicellular organism (or microbial cell). And an apparatus. After fermentation, microbial cells are pasteurized and washed to make the cell wall mechanical (such as homogenization), physical (boiling or drying), chemical (solvent) or enzymatic (cell wall degrading enzyme). Process that dissolves or breaks by technology. Achieved by centrifugation, an oily phase (upper layer) containing the oil is obtained. Separating the oily phase (including cytoplasmic debris) from the aqueous phase (including PUFA) and separating the oil from the resulting cell wall debris. Furthermore, the process of extracting the said oil and refine | purifying or isolating PUFA from the said oil as needed is contained. [Selection figure] None |
