[PROBLEMS] After application to the skin, moisture and volatile oily components are volatilized and the external preparation for skin is transferred to liquid crystal. Provision of an external preparation for skin that exerts a penetration promoting effect. A liquid crystal comprising an amphiphilic compound represented by the general formula (1) and water as essential components forms a liquid crystal having excellent temperature stability, and has a sticky feeling or oily feeling after being applied to the skin. A skin external preparation that is reduced and transfers to a liquid crystal structure by volatilization of moisture and volatile oily components, and exhibits a skin care effect and a percutaneous penetration promoting action of contained physiologically active ingredients. (In the formula, X and Y each represent a hydrogen atom or together represent an oxygen atom, n represents an integer of 0 to 2, m represents an integer of 1 or 2, and R represents an integer of glycerol or saccharide. This represents a hydrophilic group in which one hydroxyl group is removed from one of the polyol compounds.) [Selection figure] None |
