The present invention provides a polyester resin having a high refractive index and capable of being easily rendered aqueous with respect to an aqueous solvent. SOLUTION: A polyol component (A) containing 50 mol% or more of a specific fluorene compound (A1) and a carboxylic acid component (B), and a carboxyl group derived from a carboxylic acid anhydride (C) at the molecular end.
