abstract | Disclosed is an aqueous polymerization process for producing a fluoropolymer comprising a repeating unit resulting from a perfluoromonomer and a monomer having a functional group and a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond, wherein (A) water and Perfluoromonomer is mixed to form a reaction mixture, (B) polymerization of perfluoromonomer is started, (C) a part of perfluoromonomer is polymerized, and particles of perfluoromonomer polymerized in the reaction mixture And (D) a monomer having a functional group and a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond is added to the reaction mixture, and (E) the perfluoromonomer and the functional group and the polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond are added. And polymerizing in the presence of polymerized perfluoromonomer particles to form a fluoropolymer. Fluoropolymers are useful as adhesives and coatings. |
