abstract |
The present invention provides a cement binder composition and use of the binder composition in a structural product. The cement binder composition is based on MgO that absorbs CO 2 upon curing. The binder composition of the present invention also has the formula xMgCO 3 -yMg (OH) 2 -zH 2 O, where x is at least 1 and at least one of y or z is greater than 0. At least one magnesium carbonate (hydrated or non-hydrated). The binder composition may optionally contain a hygroscopic material such as NaCl. When MgO is mixed with water in the presence of magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide having a rosette form (shown) is obtained. [Selection] Figure 3 |
