abstract | The present invention relates to a method for characterizing the tissue function of a subject in need of characterization. The method includes performing an imaging technique on a voxel that is defined within a tissue space of interest, wherein the subject receives a gas comprising paramagnetic gas at least two different partial pressures. Image data is generated during the inhalation period. A compartment model algorithm is applied to the image data generated in the voxel to provide information on the metabolic function of the tissue. |
