titleOfInvention | IMPORTABLE ACCESS PORT DEVICE AND MOUNTING SYSTEM |
abstract | A system for attaching an access port to body tissue generally has an access port assembly that includes an access port having a central axis (52). The access port assembly further includes an attachment mechanism configured to allow the access port to be attached to the patient's abdominal muscles, for example. The dispensing tool (30) generally includes a handle (90) having a longitudinal axis (92), a dispensing head (96) configured to engage the access port assembly, and the dispensing head as such. An actuating mechanism (98) for allowing placement of the attachment mechanism when engaged with the access port assembly. The dispensing tool is configured such that the longitudinal axis of the handle is positioned away from the generally central axis of the access port when the dispensing head is so engaged with the access port assembly. |
