The present invention provides methods and combinations that control the duration of action of matrix-degrading enzymes in vivo. The methods and combinations of the present invention allow for transient in vivo activation of matrix degrading enzymes upon administration to the extracellular matrix (or “ECM”). By using matrix-degrading enzymes with controlled duration of action, ECM-mediated diseases or disorders characterized by increased deposition or accumulation of one or more ECM components can be treated. |
