titleOfInvention Conductor with polymer insulator having irregular surface
abstract A communication cable is provided that includes a conductor and a polymer insulator covering the conductor, the polymer insulator having an interior of a foam structure and having an outer surface formed from longitudinally extending crests and valleys. This polymer insulator, or the same or similar crest / valley outer surface, is also extruded by extruding the molten thermoplastic polymer through the orifice and coating the conductor passing through the orifice, thereby forming a polymer insulator on the conductor. A method of manufacturing a non-foamed polymer insulator is also provided, wherein the orifice defines an outer surface of the polymer insulator including longitudinally extending round peaks and valleys, the peaks being at least about 30 of the outer surface. % And has a height of at least 50% of the width of the ridge.
