titleOfInvention | Nitric oxide releasing polymer composition |
abstract | Disclosed herein are biocompatible carbon-based nitric oxide (NO) donating polymers suitable for forming and coating medical devices. These polymers have an acrylate backbone and consist essentially of hydrophobic monomers. NO-donating polymers are carbon-based where diazeniumdiolate groups are attached to acetate groups on acetate-based monomers. Incorporation of a vinyl acetate monomer into an acrylate-based polymer allows for diazeniumdiolation of the polymer that would otherwise not be compatible with diazeniumdiolate groups.
