abstract | The present invention provides a copolymer composition suitable for detergent additives and a method for producing the same, which can achieve both high levels of clay dispersibility and iron deposition suppression ability under high hardness water. The copolymer composition of the present invention has a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000 and contains 30 to 60 mol% of structural units derived from a monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid (salt) monomer (a). A structural unit derived from a monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (salt) monomer (b) and a structural unit derived from a monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid (salt) monomer (a) and an ester bond or an amide bond. A copolymer (P) containing a structural unit derived from a monomer (c) having no sulfonic acid (salt) group, and a residual monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid having a content of less than 12000 ppm when converted to an acid Acid (salt) monomer.
