titleOfInvention | Burr hole plug structure |
abstract | The burr hole plug has a plug base configured to be mounted around the burr hole (barhole). The plug base has a hole through which an elongated medical device protruding from the burr hole can be inserted. The burr hole plug further includes a retainer configured to be mounted within the plug base hole to secure the medical device. A method for performing a medical procedure on a patient includes introducing an elongated medical device from the patient's burr hole into the patient's brain tissue and inserting the plug base into the burr hole so that the medical device penetrates the plug base hole. Attaching the retainer within the plug base hole, and actuating the retainer to secure the medical device. |
