abstract |
【Task】 To improve the wear resistance of a reciprocating piston combustion engine in a reciprocating piston combustion engine having at least one cylinder, in particular a large diesel engine. [Solution] The present invention relates to a reciprocating piston combustion engine having at least one cylinder, and more particularly to a large diesel engine, and to an engine in which each cylinder has a cylinder liner and piston disposed therein for reciprocal operation. The piston has at least one piston ring on its jacket surface. The material of the cylinder liner and the piston ring of the piston movable on the bearing surface of the cylinder liner is ideally matched to each other with respect to wear resistance, the piston ring facing at least towards the bearing surface of the cylinder liner With a coating made from chrome ceramics on the surface, the cylinder liner contains a proportion of 0.01 to 1.99% hard phase distributed uniformly.
