abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing a conjugated diene capable of suppressing cracking of a catalyst without reducing the strength of the catalyst and capable of stably continuing operation. A solution produced by mixing a raw material gas containing a monoolefin having 4 or more carbon atoms and a molecular oxygen-containing gas, supplying the mixture to a reactor having a catalyst layer, and carrying out an oxidative dehydrogenation reaction. In the method for producing a conjugated diene to obtain a gas containing conjugated diene, the catalyst layer is a layer containing a solid catalyst, and the rate of change in the outer diameter of the solid catalyst represented by the following formula (1) is −0.40%. A method for producing a conjugated diene, wherein the content is 1.90% or less and the raw material gas and the molecular oxygen-containing gas are mixed and supplied to the reactor.
