A method for producing glucose syrup from a granular starch slurry is provided. Filamentous fungal host cells, particularly Tricoderma host cells, useful for the production of heterogeneous granular starch hydrolase (GSHE) having glucoamylase activity. A process for producing a glucose syrup comprising the step of contacting alpha amylase and GSHE simultaneously with a granular starch slurry obtained from a granular starch substrate at a temperature below the gelatinization temperature of the granular starch to obtain a glucose syrup composition.
