A method for suppressing slime in an aqueous system in which paper making is performed from a paper raw material includes a step of adding an oxidizing disinfectant to an aqueous addition site 38, 43 and a measurement location upstream of the addition site 38, 43. 23 and 34, measuring the oxidation-reduction potential, and adjusting the addition amount of the oxidizing disinfectant based on the measured value. The addition locations 38 and 43 are a plurality of different locations, and the measurement locations 23 and 34 are preferably located at least upstream of the corresponding addition locations among the plurality of addition locations 38 and 43.
