abstract |
Disclosed is a continuous process for preparing titanium dioxide pigments. A continuous process for preparing a titanium dioxide pigment comprising the steps of: a) at a temperature of less than about 75 ° C. and a pH of about 2.0 to about 9.0; Preparing an aqueous slurry; b) adjusting the pH of the slurry to a range of about 2.4 to about 10.5 and the temperature of the slurry so as to form silica-coated titanium dioxide particles in the slurry. Adding a silica compound while maintaining below about 75 ° C .; and c) the pH of the slurry in the range of about 5.5 to about 7.5 to form the titanium dioxide pigment, and the temperature of the slurry.
