The present invention prevents direct current, which is a natural outflow phenomenon of ink that often occurs when the pen tip is left facing down, as well as drawing line breaks, partial blurring, and eyes of ink after long-time cap-off. An aqueous ink composition for a ballpoint pen excellent in writing performance and stability, and an aqueous ballpoint pen using the same, without clogging (dry-up), poor writing after a short-time cap-off (decrease in initial writing properties), and writing performance and stability. A water-based ink composition for ballpoint pens comprising at least a coloring material and particles comprising a compound represented by the following general formula (I). H 2 C═CH—O—CO—NH— (CH 2 ) n —CH 3 (I) [n in the above formula (I) is a number of 10-25. A water-based ballpoint pen comprising the water-based ink composition 20 for ballpoint pens having the above-described configuration. [Selection] Figure 2 |
