A biological kidney tissue or cell exposed to a compound having a toxic effect, and at least a biological kidney tissue or cell not exhibiting a toxic effect on the compound, each of the Sod3 (Superoxide dismutase 3) gene. A method for detecting and predicting renal toxicity, comprising: a Sod3 gene expression level detection step for detecting an expression level; and a step of comparing each of the expression levels.
