abstract | A method for preparing a new fuel composition produced from biomass that is promising as a renewable fuel source is provided. The method includes preparing a biofuel component comprising a mixture of iso-saturated alkanes and linear saturated alkanes. The method further includes determining whether the ratio of iso-saturated alkanes to linear saturated alkanes is at least about 2.0. If the condition is met, the biofuel component is usually combined with the petroleum component, resulting in the formation of a fuel composition. A related composition is also described, wherein the weight ratio of iso-saturated alkanes to linear saturated alkanes in the composition is at least about 2.0, and the composition has a freezing point of less than about −50 ° C.
