abstract A catalyst for producing carbon nanocoils capable of producing carbon nanocoils with a uniform coil diameter with high efficiency is provided. The catalyst for producing carbon nanocoils of the present invention is a catalyst for producing carbon nanocoils in which catalyst particles containing iron, tin and indium are supported on a carrier, and tin contained in the whole catalyst particles. The total amount of element and indium element is 10 to 90 mol% with respect to the total amount of iron element, tin element and indium element contained in the entire catalyst particle, and the average primary particle diameter of the iron compound particles is 1-30 nm, the average primary particle diameter of the tin compound particles is 1-100 nm, the average primary particle diameter of the indium compound particles is 1-100 nm, and the average primary particles of the series of composite compound particles The diameter is 10 to 500 nm, and the amount of water measured by thermogravimetric analysis is 10% by mass or less based on the total mass of the catalyst particles excluding the support.
