abstract | A method for identifying a ligand binding site of a starch binding domain of amylolytic enzyme (glucoamylase) is provided. (A) creating multiple sequence alignments and aromatic residues based on the structure of a known starch enzyme including a candidate enzyme and a known ligand binding site; and (b) a progressive secondary structure correlation algorithm ( (PSSC) comparing the topology of the sequence alignment between the known enzyme and the candidate enzyme, and (c) the known ligand binding site of the known enzyme to the residue located at the corresponding position in the candidate enzyme.
